I'm  Dr. L. Cooley (they/them), a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who works primarily with LGBTQ+ teens and young adults figuring out who they are, how they fit, and how to live authentically in a world that can make that complicated. My clients come to me with all kinds of experiences—ADHD, autism, anxiety, burnout, identity questions—and together we work toward self-understanding, not self-erasure.

I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, and I’ve trained across therapeutic, school, and hospital settings. Along with therapy, I also provide psychological assessments to help clients better understand their strengths, challenges, and the “why” behind what they experience.

I’m also a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. I use this framework to help families create supportive, mutually respectful homes. Encouraging them to build spaces where kids and parents learn to communicate, set boundaries, and problem-solve together instead of working against each other.

My approach is collaborative, affirming, and rooted in realism and humor. I draw from Adlerian, REBT, and Constructivist theoretical models, but honestly? The most important part is meeting people exactly where they are. My office is a judgment-free zone full of fidgets, grounding tools, and space to show up as your whole self (even the parts you usually keep hidden). Therapy isn’t about perfection; it’s about movement, honesty, and permission to be human.

When I’m not in session, I’m probably deep in my latest hyperfixation, spending time with my wife, exploring life through my camera lens, taking trivia night a little too seriously, or passionately cheering on the Detroit Lions.
